As part of the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity Project Playhouse, local company Kitchen Design Plus is hosting a Playhouse build project on October 18th. In addition to donating the cost of the playhouse, as well as the time for construction and painting, Kitchen Design Plus is opening the event to the public to encourage awareness and participation.
Free food, drink and games will be provided, as well as the chance to connect with Habitat for Humanity volunteer opportunities and other Toledo community organizations. Their hope is to help generate awareness of the Project Playhouse program, as well as encourage other individuals to get involved.
“Habitat for Humanity has been an incredible resource to help families in the Toledo area get access to the housing they deserve” said KDP Owner Pat McKimmy. “Partnering with them on the project playhouse program was an easy decision, and we’re very excited to help promote their program with this event.”
The Project Playhouse Program was designed to build custom playhouses for underprivileged children and families. Playhouses provide a secret world where kids can make believe and dream while playing in a safe environment. Project Playhouse ties together corporate organizations in the local community with deserving families in Lucas and Wood County.
“The entire KDP team is excited for this project, we’ve been discussing ideas for painting and design for weeks” shared Mary Sines, one of KDP’s design consultants. “The ability to do something good and share the message of Habitat with a larger audience is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. Beyond excited that the pieces have finally come together.”
The event will be on October 18th, from 4 to 7pm, at KDP’s showroom at 2729 N. Reynolds Road in Toledo. It is open to the public, with free food, drinks, raffles and giveaways, and games for the whole family to enjoy.
